The boss fights in the game are great and often feel like intense duels against a smart enemy that’s just as skilled as you are. There’s a great feeling of satisfaction when the game finally clicks with you and you’re powering through areas that previously gave you trouble. Once you get the hang of the things the game not only gets easier, but a lot more enjoyable. Even as someone who’s played a lot of these types of games I had to adjust to the game’s unique combat flow and strategies. “Mortal Shell” is very challenging at the start. “Mortal Shell” is the first one of these “Souls-like” games that I’ve played that really captured the essence of the “Souls” games while also carving out its own identity.
